From BioWare, the makers of Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Baldur's Gate comes Dragon Age: Origins. An epic tale of violence, lust, and betrayal, Dragon Age: Origins is a single player role-playing game (RPG) set in a fantasy game environment, and featuring three playable character classes, accessible in the form of three races. In addition, the game features extreme character customization, a new game engine, party-based gameplay utilizing non-player characters and a built-in personal history system for each hero character rooted in a variety of possible origin stories.

Features:
  • Scalable combat options that let you decide the level of control you have over your party, including NPCs. Issue orders, set your own tactical AI, or take control of any party member to lead the charge.
  • 6 possible playable preludes known as ‘Origin Stories’ which along with your play, define how your hero character will see the world, how it sees you and sets the tone for the entire story.
  • Travel across the vast and varied lands of Ferelden; from the conspiratorial halls of the last great dwarven city, Orzammar, to the untamed snarls of the Korcari Wilds.
  • Dragon Age: Origins will give you deep character customization options including: class, race, appearance, abilities, and equipment.
  • At the heart of the storm sweeping across Ferelden. Decide the fate of nations, people and, ultimately, yourself. Just remember: for every choice, there is a consequence.
Cheats:
Unlimited Enhancement Crystals for Shale
In Redcliff, convince the innkeeper to join the fight. This will leave the barmaid in charge. Ask her for supplies and she will give you anything in the shop for free. Leave town and go to camp. Come back and get more supplies. Every time you return she will have a random assortment of the current and lower tier below crystals for Shale. They start to sell for 1 Gold Piece after you reach the "Cear" tier.

Note: Leaving the town before defending it will result in a lot of dead villagers, possibly the barmaid as well.

Update: You don't need to leave the town for the crystals to reappear. You simply need to leave the inn and re-enter it.

Free Specialization Books
The Specialization Books that vendors sell can be attained without spending any gold. Save your game, then purchase the book. You will get a message on screen that says "Specialization Unlocked." Load the game that you saved before buying the book. You will have the Specialization unlocked and the gold.

Level Up Glitch
During the Tainted Blood mission in Ostargar, collect the three Vials of Darkspawn Blood but avoid collecting the Grey Warden Treaties. After you have the vials, talk to Duncan and choose the conversation option "We have the blood, but not the scrolls." The conversation will end and you'll get experience! You can repeat the conversation and get the experience each time -- you can do this all the way up to the level cap at 25 (if you are patient)! You can click through the conversation fairly quickly once you've done it a few times.

Note: An update / patch has fixed this. To use the glitch, you'll need to avoid the update.

Hints:
Gold Exploit
Exploit may be removed with future Xbox Live updates.

In the city Lothering the Quest "Traps are a girl's best friend" one can repeatedly do the quest, earning Gold and XP. It is boring but one earns a lot of gold and XP.

You should do this before connecting to Xbox live as a patch has fixed this problem and if you were caught stealing in Lothering the Quest giver will refuse to talk to you all together.

Ghost Bridge Solve for Urn of Sacred Ash Quest
Follow these steps to get across the Ghost Bridge for the Urn of Sacred Ash quest:
1: Right one, right two, left three.
2: Player steps on first section of ghost bridge.
3: Right two, left three, left six.
4: Player steps on second section of ghost bridge.
5: Right two, right four, left six.
6: Right four, left one, left six.
7: Player steps on third section of ghost bridge.
8: Right four, right five, left one.
9: Right five, left one, left five.
10: Player crosses successfully.

Note that on the console version as each piece of the bridge becomes solid it remains solid permanently greatly reducing the difficulty of this puzzle.

Unequip for the Win
In the origins stories, be sure to remove all the items of those that accompany you (and leave your party) prior to their departure. You may need to save the gaem more often. You can use these items to sell or equip as needed.

Another example: once you return from the Kokori Wilds, before talking to Duncan, remove all the equipment from Jory and Daveth since they are destined to die.

Easy Ceremonialist and Sacrilegious Trophies / Achievements
To collect both the the Sacred Ashes Trophies / Achievements (Ceremonialist and Sacrilegious) quickly without replaying the entire game, save your game before you ascend the stairs to the ashes. During the scene, collect a pinch of ashes and then put blood in the ashes. Allow yourself to be killed afterward and reload your save. This time, collect the ashes but don't put the blood in. Leave the temple and fight the disciples waiting for you to get the second Trophy / Achievement.

Achievements:
Easy 'Grim Reaper' Achievement/Trophy
Defeating the Harvester on Hard or Nightmare difficulty is nearly impossible if you just try to tackle it without strategy.

When the Harvester is very close to the end of his first form, wait until the last possible second to push the button, this way you can clear most of the skeletons he summons. I had to get rid of about four or five whilst we hammered away at him.

If you haven't, set all of your team to use a small heath potion at 75% health, and a large health potion at 25%. Then play as Shale and just cast Heal as often as possible -- make sure as Shale you stand by the button. Set the dwarf up so that he is taunting, etc., and they should concentrate on him and leave Shale alone.

Having a lot of potions will make this battle time-consuming, but achievable; on my battle with the Harvester, I had over 400 potions just in case.

Easy 'Recruiter' Achievement/Trophy
1. Alistair: Ostagar, King's Camp. Alistair will unlock automatically. Duncan will ask you to seek Alistair out when you arrive at Ostagar.

2. Dog: Castle Cousland or Ostagar. Complete a side quest during the Human Noble origin or complete the "Mabari Hound" side quest once you reach Ostagar.

3. Leliana: Lothering. Get rid of the local mercenaries and then speak with Leliana in Dane's Refuge.

4. Loghain Mac Tir: Denerim, Royal Palace. After the Landsmeet, you'll be able to invite Loghain to become a Grey Warden. Just know that if you do, Alistair will leave your party.

5. Morrigan: Korcari Wilds. After the Battle of Ostagar, Morrigan will save your life and then join your party.

6. Oghren: Orzammar. At the entrance of the Deep Roads, he will join your party.

7. Shale: Village of Honnleath. Stone Prisoner DLC: Complete "The Golem of Honnleath" quest. . Sten: Lothering. Free Sten from his cell.

9. Wynne: Circle Tower. She will join your party when you are locked inside the Circle Tower.

10. Zevran: Random. Once you complete one of the major treaty quests, you will run into Zevran's band of assassins on the road.

Easy 'Perfectionist' Achievement/Trophy
You can save a lot of time trying to discover all possible endings, and even complete it in only one playthrough, with precise timing. The key requirement to doing this is to save in certain places of the story.

Save one: Right before entering the Landsmeet Chamber, pick Alistair (or Loghain) and then have Alistair die at the end. Reload the game and pick the other character.

Save two: Right before entering your room in Redcliffe Castle, you choose whether or not to participate in the dark ritual. If you do complete the dark ritual, there is no choice at the end for who kills the Archdemon.

Save three: Right before going to the rooftop of the tower -- if you did not complete the dark ritual, you can choose to kill yourself, then reload -- fight the Archdemon again and make Alistair or Loghain kill it.
